Who is eligible to rent a vehicle in Taiwan?
International renters must be legally permitted to stay in Taiwan and meet all local driving and rental requirements at the time of rental. Eligibility is subject to verification of valid documentation.
What documents are required for international renters?
International renters are required to present all of the following: - A valid passport - A valid foreign driving licence - A valid International Driving Permit (IDP), issued by the same country as the driving licence - A valid credit card in the renter’s name (All documents must be valid for the entire rental period.
Is an International Driving Permit (IDP) required in Taiwan?
Yes. Under Taiwanese regulations, foreign drivers must present a valid International Driving Permit (IDP) together with their original driving licence in order to legally drive in Taiwan.
Can I drive in Taiwan with only my foreign driving licence?
No. A foreign driving licence alone is not sufficient for legal driving in Taiwan without a valid IDP.
What type of International Driving Permit (IDP) is accepted?
Only IDPs issued by authorised government bodies in the country that issued the original driving licence are accepted. (Digital or unofficial IDPs are not valid in Taiwan.)
What is the minimum age requirement to rent a vehicle?
The minimum rental age is 20 years old, in accordance with common rental practices in Taiwan. (Additional age or driving experience requirements may apply depending on vehicle category.)
Is insurance included in the rental?
Yes. All rentals include the mandatory insurance coverage required by Taiwanese law. Additional insurance options, if available, will be clearly explained at the time of booking.
Can I extend my rental period?
Rental extensions may be requested and are subject to vehicle availability and document validity. All required documents must remain valid for the entire extended rental period.
Can additional drivers be added?
Additional drivers may be allowed, subject to approval. Each additional driver must meet the same documentation and legal driving requirements as the primary renter.
What should I do in case of an accident or vehicle issue?
In the event of an accident or vehicle issue, renters must contact VROOR immediately. Renters are required to comply with all local traffic laws and reporting requirements in Taiwan.
Can I use the rental vehicle for business purposes?
Yes. Rental vehicles may be used for legitimate personal or business purposes within Taiwan, provided all legal requirements are met.
Are mileage limits applied?
Mileage limits, if applicable, will be clearly stated in the rental agreement prior to confirmation.
What payment methods are accepted?
A valid credit card in the renter’s name is required for payment and security purposes. Other payment methods may not be accepted.
What happens if my licence or IDP expires during the rental period?
Driving is not permitted if any required document expires. All documents must remain valid throughout the entire rental period, including any extensions.
Does VROOR reserve the right to refuse a rental?
VROOR reserves the right to refuse or cancel a rental if documentation is incomplete, invalid, or does not comply with Taiwanese regulations.
